See my little piggy?
Get your mind out of the gutter, people, the piggy I’m referring to is located in the sidebar to the left… do ya’ see it?
Alright then, moving on…
As Kristen from Motherhood Uncensored (I have a deep admiration for anyone who can title a post “Britney Spears, My Crotch Thanks You” without batting an eyelash) so eloquently put it:
The premise is simple. If you read blogs, then for the month of August, make the “pledge” to click through from your feed reader. No obligation to leave a hilarious comment or send a long stalkerish email (although both, within reason, are always lovely). Just click through to the blog (not on ads unless you are so led) and if you’re feeling generous, click around to their older posts.
Just those extra page views can make a big difference for bloggers who could really use the help, or in my case, where page views don’t matter so much, a big fat ego boost.
It seems as though we’re in the middle of a Blogging Recession… apparently it isn’t normal to have only one hit a day (zero if I count myself, which I don’t, because “one” sounds so much nicer than “zero”, doesn’t it?) and there are people out there who count on that paycheck that they receive every month by supporting ads on their site to buy that gallon of gas or double latte.
While I may not be one of them (spewing about my boobs and ill-mannered children will not win me any contracts with Pampers or Gerber Graduates, I assure you), I can understand how the Blogging Recession has put a bit of a damper on the spirits of those who do… along with their wallets.
So, if you’d like to play a part in giving someone a chance to buy a muffin along with their double latte, or saving someone from riding their bike to work, then do ‘em all a favor and link directly to their blog. Geez, she’s not asking for much, it’s not like she’s asking you to give her your firstborn (of course, if you’re interested Kristen, I have a mouthy 12 year old I wouldn’t mind unloading on you, even if it’s for only a few months) or pledging to give up sex for a month (I’m down with that, too)… it’s just an extra click or two.
It doesn’t get much easier than that.
P.S. If you’re diggin’ my pig, you can click on the icon and it’ll take ya’ straight to Motherhood Uncensored where you can get one for yourself… c’mon, you know you want to.
Everybody’s doin’ it.

Hey, you’re on my feed babes!!! I am so going to join this blog recession — I have an ego that needs a bit of stroking too! Truth be told, I have considered putting the word “boobs” in one of my posts as I’ve heard thru the bloggie grapevine that it increases your visits! Hehe!
Oooh! Tomorrow my post is so gonna be titled “Boobs: Then and Now.” Thanks for the idea, but sorry for stealing. Maybe we can share!
Sammanthia, thanks for joining too. Makes me feel less like a dork, lol. Doesn’t change the fact that I *am* a dork, though.
Thanks for clicking through to me! I’m feeling lots of bloggy love.
I’ll do my part and giveit a click. Great post by the way
I just heard about that pledge myself! I never considered the fact that reading in a reader would not count toward stats. Although, it makes sense now that I think about it. I will click through for the month of August. What a great idea!
I had to pop over to comment on your unfortunate car accident that prevented you from going to Lollapalooza. What I found so crazy about it is that I was hit by a car two years prior to the concert. How is that for coincidence? If you’re interested, I wrote about it here http://lifewiththree.blogspot.com/2008/06/everyone-has-momentary-lapses-in.html
Thanks for stopping by!
Blog the Recession is such a fabulous idea. I have been having fun participating and finding new blogs. Enjoy
I jumped on the bandwagon, but still not seeing my link. Are you linked on her site yet?
Mouthy 12-yr-old? I hear you! I taught 6th grade for nine long years. I loved the kids, but i got tired of their mouths. But blogging the recession – now that I can do.
Jen: It took a couple days… did you send your post about the recession or your whole website? ‘Cause I did just the post (after having done the other) and once I did that it was up there.
Omg, why didn’t I think of this? Boobs as a way to grab readers? Oh heck yes, and I have plenty enough to share.
Blogging the recession is a great idea too. Kristen sure knows her stuff.
Just popping in through the Blog the Recession links!
