Man Down!

When I came home last night from the grocery store, I couldn’t believe my eyes… all three of my kids were in the kitchen playing together… and having fun. At first I wasn’t sure if it was indeed my house, but the Tinker Toys and Rescue Heroes scattered all over the floor and the sounds of “Max and Ruby” blaring from the living room assured me it was. Usually whenever I come home from anywhere, I’m greeted with Ryerson asking me to refill his sippie cup or Carter asking me why I felt it was necessary to give birth to Gage… this laughter thing was new to me.

I liked it.

As it turned out, Gage had gone to Walmart with a friend of his a bought a Laser Pointer. Gage told me when he first showed it to Ryerson, he was terrified… in fact, he told Carter to “kill it”. It wasn’t long before Ryerson figured out the laser pointer wasn’t  something to be afraid of… it was something to be adored, revered even. After that, he begged Gage to let him have it, but Gage wasn’t willing to give up his new toy- so instead, he figured out a way for Ryerson to have fun with it without having to give it up himself.

Unfortunately, his idea of fun should have included an athletic cup and a helmet.

  1. That was hilarious! That’s even better than playing with a cat with one!

    And what a nice suprise to come home and find them playing together! I always wonder if aliens have invaded when I find my kids playing. lol.

    Great post Sam!!

  2. Three men go in…but only one comes out…

    This was hilarious! I’m tempted to ask what aisle I can find this magical boy toy at, but then part of me is scared that, within a couple days, I’d be secretly “losing” the laser pointer and playing dumb when the boys hunted the house for it (thus destroying all the clean up work I’ve been doing!)

  3. That was awesome!!!

  4. Ouch. I’m cringing for the poor little guy, and I’m a girl.

  5. @ Wendy I know, right! I’ve heard of people playing like that with their dogs… but children?
    @FADKOG It’s not even a toy! Gage found it in the home office section. Who knew?
    @Karen Wasn’t it, though?
    @Tricia Better parents would have told G and C to stop tormenting their brother. But they were having so much fun with it I grabbed the video camera. There goes my “Mother Of The Year” award. ;)

  6. Awww super cute!! Looks like they’re having a blast.

  7. That’s wonderful that they’re playing together. Or even if two of them are plotting against the other one, they’re doing it TOGETHER!
